WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

 

The nature of ethics

  1. The extent and nature of the Shari’ah Law.  I.e how it is made up and the effect it has upon Muslim Lives.
  1. The nature of Islamic ethics.   The five conditions of Obligation,  Fard, Mustahab, Mubah (halal), Makruh, Haram  

This means that you need to know more than just what the rules are but why the rules are obeyed at all.  How the rules fit in with one another.  Why there are different levels of obligation.  How are these rules imposed in society in general and most importantly how do Muslims cope in the UK and Hong Kong where they are a minority.  So how Muslims cope with buying food,  how do they cope in school with dress etc

Teaching and Ceremonies

  1. The doctrine of Jihad,   The Greater and the Lesser.  Very relevant at present. This is very misunderstood concept.  It is SPIRITUAL warfare.  This is a very different concept to War (Qital)
     
  1. Rules concerning dress for men and women (the veil – hijab),  alcohol, gambling, taking interest (riba) and rules for food (halal meat etc).   See above and how these affect everyday life especially in a Non Muslim country.
     
  1. Birth (Aqiqa)  and Death  ( Janazah prayers) rituals, including ceremonies and beliefs
