Our Philosophy

The Modern Language Department aims to provide an environment in which pupils are exposed to the joy of learning a new language and meeting a new culture different to their own. French, German and Mandarin are taught at all levels and all languages are now taught at Advanced Level. The Department is dedicated to offering modern and stimulating learning materials using ICT. All departments will soon have their own Websites, which contain learning activities, exam practice material, links to exciting language sites, and much more. If you are currently in Year 6 and will join SIS next year, you may want to have a look at the online introduction to our languages we have designed especially for you.
