TASK D  Ergonomics:

  • Define ergonomics, anthropometrics and percentile range.

  • Measure and calculate the 50th percentile range for the class of hat sizes.

  • Deduce from the information collected the limitations of using the 50th percentile as a means of designing for the average person. I.e. How will this affect the fit of the hat for some students in the class? Plot this on a graph.

TASK E  Fashion and Planned Obsolescence:

  • Define fashion and planned obsolescence.

  • Evaluate the design of 3 different accessories for 3 different end uses. Refer to shape, form, texture, performance in use, safety, reliability, materials, construction, cost and colour. Use clearly labelled visuals.

2.Outline the techniques of moulding, casting, weaving, fusing, stitching, cutting, machining, abrading, using adhesives and using fasteners. Use your Product Design booklet.

3. Describe how the techniques above relate to different materials: metals, plastics, food, ceramics, composites, timber and textiles. create a table showing this.

4. Complete all tasks in 5.3, 5.4 and 5.5.
